July’s Pizza of the Month: ‘Bones Shake’s Bleed’

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen. Last month my pizza parlour had the privilege of asking Manchester band Furroughed Brow to choose the pizza toppings for June’s Pizza of the Month. And what a popular pizza this has proven to be! This goat’s cheese and red onion pie has been flying out of the oven and I can only imagine it staying on the menu for quite some time.

Now that we are in July, I have the honour of announcing a new Pizza of the Month. My pizza parlour staff have been searching far and wide for who to ask. When they heard that the band Bones Shake are about to release their LP “Bleed” on 22nd July, they made some whistles to those in the know and, I am delighted to say, the band have agreed to choose a pizza and name the toppings. Coinciding with the colour of the vinyl release, this appetizing concoction is as blood-red as they come and a perfect choice for this hot sunny season.

July’s Pizza of The Month, Bones Shake’s Bleed, has red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, red onions, optional red chillis and cow’s milk or vegan mozzarella and optional olives. Yours for only £6.50 and photographed here on The Golden Pizza Paddle.

Let me now, Ladies and Gentlemen, give you a glimpse of the upcoming album by Bones Shake. This band have been bleeping a giant red dot on my personal rock n’ roll radar-bindi for quite some time. And, even though I can no longer be physically present at many of the shows put on by bands these days, I am certainly there in spirit. The band tap into a primal energy which is raw and urgent, wild-eyed and thunderous. Capturing such a gripping live sound on a recorded medium might sometimes prove to be difficult, but this fuzzed-out vinyl is a real thrill to listen to, especially when played loud. The LP features two previously released singles “Hey Hey” and “Unwell”, the remaining 6 tracks having been recorded at Sheffield’s Tesla Studios. This limited edition vinyl can be bought along with a ticket to the band’s launch of the album at Astral Elevator on 22nd July in The Peer Hat. Joining the band on the night will be Frankie Teardrop Dead, Ahmed & The Romans and Xup.
